Activist Club

A.F.Y.I

AHS Tech Crew
- Members learn technical aspects of theatre production and run performances in the AHS auditorium. Tech Crew directors have won numerous awards for stage, light, and sound.

AHS Theatre Company
- Promotes excellence in theatre arts and everyday life. Productions have received critical acclaim as graduates often pursue careers in the dramatic arts.

Asian Club

Members explore aspects of Chinese culture and language.

Bowling Club
- Members bowl three games per week on Thursdays and compete for team and individual awards. The club also sponsors a Varsity Team that competes through the MHSAA tournament.

Diversity Forum
- Students learn about and explore other cultures while planning the annual AHS Ethnic Fair.

Engineering / Robotics

Participates in local and US First national robotics competitions.

- Members compete interscholastically in a multitude of speech and drama events.

French Club
- Acquaints students not enrolled in French classes with the French culture and provides enrolled French students
with an added dimension to their studies.

HERO Club


Intensity Dance Team
- Provides an opportunity for students to perform and compete in dance as a team in state and national competitions.

Karate Club
- Students develop strength, coordination, self-confidence and compete in martial arts.

Literary (Great Books) Club
- Students meet regularly to review fine literature.

Literary Magazine (A-Mag)
- The literary magazine will be a publication of Athens' students best artwork and writing. The magazine will be published in the spring.

Mathematics Club

Members represent AHS at local, state, and national mathematics competitions.

Medical Club


Model U.N.
- Model United Nations or Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model UN, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization.

National Honor Society

A voluntary, service-oriented organization of students selected by the faculty from the junior and senior classes on the basis of their integrity, academic ability, community service and leadership.


Peer Mediation

Members mediate student disputes to prevent violence and promote peace.


Pep Band/Spirit Club

Serves as a pep band for home basketball games.

Photography Club
- Students explore advanced topics in photography as art and vocation.

Physics Club

Student physicists meet regularly to discuss physics and compete in the annual State Physics Olympiad.

Ping Pong Club
- Students practice and play table tennis.

Members volunteer for community service projects in the school community and develop leadership qualities.

Rugby Club - Recreational Rugby.

SADD
- Educates community about dangers associated with alcohol and automobile use and encourages wise decision making.

Science Club
- Students have the opportunity to have fun exploring science topics and compete in the state science olympiad tournament.

Social Studies Club
- Members discuss and explore economics and government current events and sponsor intraschool social studies events.

Spanish Club
- Provides additional activities for Spanish students.

- Functions as a student governing body that promotes a positive student environment and plans a variety of student activities.

Video Club
- Members learn the art of film-making and produce the AHS morning announcements.

Web Club
- Students explore topics in website development and internet use.
