WELCOME

Welcome to the Troy High School National Honor Society. The Athens High Chapter of the National Honor Society is for current 11^th and 12^th grade students. 9^th and 10^th graders who are interested in applying for their 11^th and 12^th grade years should be working towards achieving the NHS pillars (Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character). Students who meet the eligibility requirements at the end (June) of their 10^th and 11^th grade year will be invited to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

Class of 2027 & 2028

Effective for the Fall Orientation of 2025 for class of 2027 and 2028: Students with an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher after the second semester of their sophomore year and second semester of their junior year will be offered the opportunity to apply to the National Honor Society. Any grades earned during summer school will not be considered part of their cumulative GPA until the following June.

Class of 2028 & 2029

Effective for the Fall Orientation of 2027 for the class of 2029 and beyond: Students with an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher after the second semester of their sophomore year and second semester of their junior year will be offered the opportunity to apply to the National Honor Society. Any grades earned during summer school will not be considered part of their cumulative GPA until the following June.

Class of 2028 & Beyond

Class of 2027

Class of 2027: Students will submit a community service log with a minimum of 10 hours from the beginning of their 9th grade year. For every volunteering event, students will include the name of the event, a brief description, the date, the time, a supervisor signature, and a legible contact phone number and email. Service should demonstrate an ongoing commitment over the course of their high school career.

Class of 2028 & Beyond

Class of 2028 and Beyond: Students will submit a community service log with a minimum of 20 hours from the beginning of their 9^th grade year. For every volunteering event, students will include the name of the event, a brief description, the date, the time, a supervisor signature, and a legible contact phone number and email. Service should demonstrate an ongoing commitment over the course of their high school career.

All community service must be completed through a philanthropic organization, without pay or other award, and for the betterment of the community. For example, yard work in the neighborhood, babysitting, and tutoring a friend are not examples of organized community service.
- Once approved, we will generate a form and have it published for students and parents on our Schoology pages, the school website (as applicable) and in the counseling center.
All students must have committed membership in a minimum of two school sanctioned clubs or sports teams from the beginning of their 9^th grade year.
- Students will be asked to provide the name of the club sport, the advisor/coaches name and email address.
